
Central Peace 4-H sale will be taking place June 1st, 2022, via VJV Auctions online timed sale. The calves will be weighed the morning of the sale and will be posted to the sale and this site immediately. Bidding starts around 9am (BC time), bids will close at 4pm (BC time). Steer and member info will be posted on VJV site two weeks prior to sale. Steers will sell by the pound.

The average price per pound last year was $3.27 and 2018 $3.19

DO I NEED TRANSPORTATION FOR THE ANIMAL AFTER IF I BUY IT?
Transportation to the facility of your choice will be provided free of charge.

DO I GET TO CHOOSE THE CUTS OF MEAT?
Yes! your facility will call you and discuss your options and portion sizes.

WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE ROOM/FUNDS FOR A WHOLE STEER?
No problem! Consider buying with another family or multiple families!

WHAT ARE THESE ANIMALS FED?
Rations for these steers are made up of a combination of high energy/protein feeds such as barley and supplements as well as hay roughage to keep them healthy and performing at their best! Many members will include a feed description in their write ups.

HOW ARE THESE ANIMALS TREATED?
Very well! The 4-H members spend time on a daily basis with their projects, feeding and training them for their show and sale.

IS PROCESSING INCLUDED IN THE SALE PRICE?
No, costs will vary based on the facility you choose and what processing you want done with the animal. Processing prices are paid on the hanging weight, not the live on the hoof.

DO YOU FIND IT HARD TO SELL YOUR 4-H STEER AFTER CARING FOR AND WORKING WITH IT ALL YEAR?
Yes, and often it is harder for some than others. These kids spend a lot of time with their animal, and many build a strong bond over the year as well as a sense of pride in their project. These kids are strong, and they take comfort in knowing they've given their steer the best possible life while on this Earth while acknowledging the purpose of livestock.
