Claire Wark & Pablo
lbs

Hi my name is Claire Wark, I’m 16 years old and this is my first year in 4-H doing a Steer Project. I decided to do 4-H this year because I have found my love for working with cows, playing with calves and just being outside with the cattle. My friend Harli had convinced me into doing 4-H and I’m glad she did. She has shown me what people can really do with Steers and the trust most people put into them, even the challenges that come with owning and raising a Steer. I did have a Steer for the majority of the year and he was great, he tested my patience alot but I always thought I could fight it off and work with him on making both of our experiences better. At first he was amazing, Pablo was quiet and tame, I was always able to walk up to him with food in my hand and give him scratches, after a while there were signs of him becoming more wild and less tame, he started tossing his head more with me but I didn't quite want to give up. A few weeks ago he handed me his last sign on not showing him. He had charged at me and that is why he is not here today. I still enjoyed my experience in 4-H and I surely did learn a lot. Although I am frustrated at not showing him I can still say I am proud to see the work my club members have put into their calves and how good they all look. I’d like to thank my club for making this experience as good as it could be.
