Clara Hotte & Jalapeño

Hello! My name is Clara Hotte and this is my steer, Jalapeño. I call him Hal for short. He is a purebred polled Hereford from Spring Mountain Stock Farm, which is run by my great-aunt and uncle. He is eating 18 lbs of barley, 10 lbs of wheat, and 2 lbs of 32% protein supplement with rumensin per day, as well as free choice hay. I had a great year spending time with my steer and making sure he will act his best by Achievement Day. While Hal can be a bit difficult at times, he absolutely loves back scratches and will calm down immediately if you find his sweet spot! This is my seventh year in 4-H and I’ve loved it just as much as previous years. Besides working with my steer, I enjoy horse riding, working on the farm, knitting, crocheting, and playing with my siblings. I’m looking forward to showing and selling my calf, and continuing to develop a career in agriculture!
