Clem Hotte & Jasper
1055 lbs

My name is Clem Hotte and I am 10 years old. This is my second year in 4-H but it is my first year with a steer. My steer’s name is Jasper. He is a very nice 4-H calf. He is very friendly, and nice to lead. Jasper is a purebred Polled Hereford from Spring Mountain Stock Farm, which is run by my Great-Aunt and Uncle. I like Jasper’s personality, and how easy he is to work with. He has been eating 18 lbs of barley, 10 lbs of wheat, and 2 lbs of 32% protein supplement with rumensin per day, as well as free choice hay. This year, I did most of his clipping with a little help from my older sister Clara. In January, Clara said we should ride our calves because there is plenty of snow to cushion our landings. So, we did! When I landed, the snow didn’t do too much cushioning, but it was fun anyway. I like working with my 4-H calf, helping Dad on the farm (especially calving) and playing with my siblings.
