Georgia Chipps & Spike

My name is Georgia Chipps. I am a grade 12 student attending Savanna school. This is my 8th year in 4-H, also my last! I have a steer and a heifer this year. My steers name is Spike (name credits to my little sister). My steer has been easy to work with from the beginning. It was great to have an animal so easy to tame this year as I have been very busy figuring out my future in regards to scholarship applications as well as college/ university applications. Although my steer was a pleasure to halter break, my heifer was a different story... I mean I should’ve known taking a tan animal of what I was getting myself into. I purchased my heifer from Dolen Land & Cattle. Not only is it my step families operation they work together on, but these animals have pride and effort put into the way they are raised and taken care of. I got my steer from my step-grandparents. It was (in my opinion) the best looking steer in the pen and he has continued to not let me down. I feel very fortunate to have a family whom helps me out as much as I need from picking out a steer, purchasing one, and helping me through my whole 4-H process... which even includes listening to my speech fifty times until they know it nearly better than I do. I have many skills that I have learned in 4-H throughout the years I’ve participated and have already been applying these skills to my everyday life. I will be putting the money I have made through 4-H into University.
