Hi, my name is Shay Brett. I am 9 years old. This is my first year in the Savanna 4H Multi-club and I have a beef project. My hobbies include hockey, riding my horse and roping when I can. I would also love to be in dance or gymnastics but my other hobbies take up all my time. This winter I got to go to a few rodeos and compete and I had a lot of fun. Next year I hope to win them all. My steer this year is a Simmental steer that I got off of my grandma and grandpa. I named my steer Leo and I love him so much. I think he loves me too because he is always licking me all over. Leo has been the best first steer for me. He is very easy to work with and has a great personality. At our club weigh in Leo weighed 650 pounds. He loves his food almost as much as he loves me!! He has grown a lot since then and I am glad he is gentle. In addition to his hay and silage I started him out on a grain ration from Keddies. At the start I gave him a starter ration and then moved him to a grower ration. He is now on a finisher ration and is eating 25lbs of it per day. Maybe by Achievement Day he will be big enough that I will just saddle him up and ride away. Come see and find out.
